Your belly holds the center horizontal plane of your entire body. It is like the key to a locking system that is throughout the body. When we work at the region of the belly and respiratory diaphragm, we access the other areas of the body that function as gateways of holding or releasing. In a balanced system these portals strengthen and relax according to the needs of the moment in a fluid and easeful manner. However, when chronic tension and stress keeps these centers on lockdown, we can experience stagnation and a limited connection to the wholeness of our body. This practice works with a deep calming breath within the belly to find grounding and harmony.
